Statements

Context updated October 14, 2026. The original February 24, 2021 publication introduced a Black Swan client statement and claimed 105% profit. That percentage remains a historical claim made in the publication. Its short original text did not disclose starting capital, calculation method, complete period or cash flows. Independent account verification is not supplied here.
A percentage appears easy to compare, but can mislead when its denominator is unknown. This page explains the information needed before interpreting the figure. The video remains an original archive asset; its unreviewed content is not used to fill missing fields.
Name the numerator and denominator
In a simple teaching case without external cash flows, a result can be divided by starting capital and expressed as a percentage. A result of 2,100 against starting capital of 2,000 units gives 2,100 / 2,000 × 100 = 105%. The same result against 5,000 units would give 42%. These are invented examples, not reconstructed client-account values.
Also distinguish profit from ending capital expressed as a percentage of starting capital. “Ending value is 105% of starting value” would mean a 5% increase in that simplified case, not a 105% increase. A caption needs to define the metric rather than leaving readers to infer its meaning.
Cash flows change the calculation problem
If capital arrived during the period, dividing all profit by the opening balance may produce an unsuitable comparison. Obtain the amounts and dates of flows and identify the chosen return method. Methods answer different questions: the investor's capital experience and a strategy's value changes with external flows separated cannot simply be mixed.
Record exact period boundaries and time zone.
Identify the basis: opening balance, equity or another defined field.
List deposits, withdrawals and adjustments.
Check included costs and the state of open positions.
Keep the formula and input values beside the percentage.
The report structure and field definitions matter more than an attractive label. MetaTrader 5's report documentation illustrates the documentation to consult; it does not authenticate the platform or outcome in this archive.
A percentage does not describe the risk path
Even an established return for one interval would not reveal temporary losses or open positions within it. Read it alongside equity and drawdown, transaction counts and position-size changes. Do not turn a selected short interval into a promised annual outcome.
Profit factor answers a different question and also cannot establish future profit. Reproducible analysis requires complete history and reconciliation of fills and charges. Until the underlying fields are available, the accurate description is an archive of a 105% claim, rather than verified current product performance.
